The Summer (tournaments) start here…

The weekend of 16th and 17th May was the start of the Tournament season for Greenmeadow Youth.

Teams from all ages were in action across the weekend at three venues.

First off on Saturday was the Under 12’s at Thatcham Tornadoes 21st anniversary Tournament.
The boys started the weekend off in style.

After a 0-0 draw in the opening match, they won all their other games without conceding a goal.
They won the final on penalties with Ben saving a penalty and scoring his. Must also mention his tremendous save in the Semi finals against the massive Pinstars defender!

Sunday was a very busy day for Greenmeadow.
First off the Under 15’s played at Thatcham. They entered two teams, one getting through to the Semi final of the Cup, the other to the quarter finals of the Consolation competition.

At the same time the Under 10 City took part in the Chippenham End of Season Tournament.
The team were unbeaten throughout the whole tournament and met the hosts in the final which they won 1-0!

Over at the County Ground in Swindon Town FC, Under 8 City and the Under 7’s took part in Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust Six-a-Side Football Festival. This was billed as Football Fun for both age groups.

Under 8 City won all their games.
The Under 7s won 1, drew 2 and lost 2.

Great performances from all the team showing Greenmeadow Youth going from strength to strength!

And also thanks to all the parents that turned up and cheered the boys and girls on!

  1. Well done all age groups but particular under 10’s City as they only lost one game all season, a penalty shoot out against Cirencester in the Cup. If the league was still competitive they would be Champions!
