Busy weekend in the Greenmeadow Calender over the weekend of 27th and 28th of June
First off we had the Under 6s taking part in the Festival of Football at the Highworth Town Juniors Tournament.
The team played extremely well which bodes very well for them moving up to the Under 7’s next year.
The Under 7’s were also in action. They played 5 games, winning 1, drawing 3 and only losing 1 game!
Harry got player of the Tournament!
While the Under 6’s and Under 7’s battled it out at Highworth, Under 10 City were in action at the Castle Combe tournament.
The scorching sun shone down on the team as they soared through the groups stages scoring 19 and conceding none! They then won their Qtr final and came out top in the Semi against Trowbridge with a golden goal from Tay – again not conceding. The final went to penalties after ending 0-0 where Emily made a fine save to allow the team to win the tournament!
Must say a Big thanks to Paul Clark Services for the great new Kits you can see the team wearing in the photo above.
Moving on, up in Birmingham the Under 12’s were representing the South West in the FA Futsal National Finals against top teams from all over the country!
The boys started well with a 4-0 win over Horsforth St Margarets, followed by a 1-1 draw against FS Derby. Their final game in the group was a 1-0 loss against Hertford Town Woodside.
This was good enough to finish the group as runners up!
They then had a long wait until the Semi Finals where they took on Go4Goal. 5 mins in and they were 3-0 up and cruising. Then it all seemed to go pear shaped. Nothing went Greenmeadow’s way after that. At 5-5 it looked that the boys would make it with a knock in from Rowan from Rio’s throw, but it was judged that Rowan didn’t get a touch to it and the goal was disallowed. They boys unfortunately lost 6-5 in the end. The tournament was won by Hertford Town Woodside.
Sunday started at 8.30 with the Under 12’s playing at Highworth in the rain!
The boys played brilliantly winning all their games in the group without conceding a goal. They beat Cirencester in the Qtrs and won their semi 5-0! The final came and the boys won without any real threat from the opposition. Well done boys!
Overall a great weekend of football. Thanks to all the parents who take the time to traipse round the country and ungodly hours to support the teams at the tournaments. It is really appreciated.
