Mixed fortunes at the weekend for Greenmeadow.
Lots of teams were in action at the Highworth Tournament over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday evening saw the under 6s playing in their first tournament! The team played really well and from the picture below looks like they were pleased with their first trophies!
Next up was the Under 15’s with two teams playing. Both teams did well and got out of their respective groups. Unfortunately they both got knocked out in the Quarter finals.
Saturday came with driving rain and it was the turn of both under 10 teams to see what they could achieve.
Both teams battled away and got in to the quarter finals. Under 10 City got beaten in the quarters. Under 10 United went one step better and got to the Semi Finals.
A big thank you must go to Paul Clark Services for the Gazebo. It made a great statement for Greenmeadow as well as keeping the Under 10’s dry! (it was borrowed by the Under 12’s after lunch as well!)
In the afternoon it was the turn of the Under 12’s. The boys struggled to dominate in the group stages but got through as runners up. They then faced Croft in the Quarter finals which was 1-1 at end of extra time and went to penalties. The boys calmly scored all 3 of their penalties and Ben saved one getting them to the Semi Finals. This was 0-0 after extra time and unfortunately they lost on penalties…
Sunday the under 7’s and Under 8’s were in action.
The under 7’s was a non competitive festival of football. They played very well and were very impressed with their trophies!
The under 8’s took part in one of their first competitive tournaments winning their group to get to the quarters where they lost in extra time.!
See some great pictures of both teams in action at Your Sport Swindon here
The under 12’s were also in action again on Sunday at Brislington Tournament. A VERY early start with their first match kicking off at 8.45.
The boys played well and won their group not conceding a goal. They won their quarter final 1-0 unfortunately getting beaten in the Semi-finals.
There may not have been much silverware added to the trophy cabinet over the weekend but there were a lot of children playing football in green tops – some in the sun and some in the rain – but all enjoying playing – which is what its all about!
A week off and then we have Highworth Town Juniors Tournament for Under 7’s, Under 10’s and Under 12’s on 27th/28th of June and Under 12’s also head to Birmingham for the final of the Futsal Festival 2015 on the Saturday.
